| Dato’ Dr. Zaatar has a long distinguished career
in Radiotherapy & Oncology. He is one of the
pioneers in the fields of Radiotherapy & Oncology in
our country and has been instrumental in building
the cancer services at Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital
before joining Gleneagles Medical Centre in March
2011. |

| He was one of the founding members and was the
Medical Adviser of Penang Breast Care Society - a
support group for women with breast cancer,
established in 1986. |

| He has forty years experience in Radiation /
Medical Oncology, in the management of all solid
tumours of breast, lung, gastrointestinal tract,
urinary tract, nasopharynx and the head & neck. |

| He worked in the Department of Radiotherapy,
Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at Cairo Medical
School, Egypt before joining the Beatson Oncology
Centre (formerly the Glasgow Institute of
Radiotherapy and Oncology) Glasgow, United Kingdom
in 1976. |

| Subsequently, he joined the Department of
Radiotherapy & Oncology at Cork Medical School,
Ireland in 1984 before joining Mount Miriam
Hospital, Penang in 1985. |

| He has been the Principal Investigator for many
international clinical studies for lung, breast,
pancreas and colorectal cancers. Several of these
studies have been published in international
journals. |

| Dato’ Dr. Zaatar has contributed greatly towards
cancer management in Malaysia and in recognition of
his service, he was awarded the Darjah Setia
Pangkuan Negeri in 2000 and the Pingat Kelakuan
Terpuji in 1991 by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau
Pinang. |
