| Dato’ Dr. Vanniasingham graduated from the University of Malaya (S’pore). He trained as a Surgical Registrar at the Penang General Hospital and did his postgraduate training at Guy’s Hospital and St. George’s Hospital in Edinburgh and England respectively. He subsequently obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia. |

He served as Consultant Surgeon at the General Hospital, Ipoh, and then Consultant Surgeon at the General Hospital, Penang, before resigning to start as one of the pioneer consultants of the Penang Medical Centre, which later became the Gleneagles Medical Centre. For his services in the field of medicine, he was awarded the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) which carries the title of ‘Dato'. |

| Dato’ Dr. Vanniasingham was trained in Gastroenterology in Jutendo University and Tokyo University and pioneered in Gastroenterology at the General Hospital, Penang, and later at the Penang Medical Centre. He had further training in Tokyo in ERCP and colonoscopy. He had a wide spectrum of surgical experience at the General Hospital, Penang, and the Penang Medical Centre until the various surgical specialities came into existence. |
