| He received his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and then pursued subspecialization in Paediatric Surgery in The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill, Glasgow; Women's & Children's Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia, and Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, United Kingdom. |

| He served for a year in the Institute of Paediatrics, Kuala Lumpur Hospital, before being appointed as a Lecturer in University Malaya. He went on to become an Associate Professor of Surgery. |
