Mr. Nadesh Sithasanan acquired most of his
paediatric surgical training in tertiary centres of
excellence overseas. His formative years were at the
busy Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow,
Scotland, where he was exposed to advanced training
in all branches of paediatric surgery and paediatric
urology as well as intensive care of surgical
neonates. He also spent valuable years in
Nottingham, England, and successfully obtained his
FRCS (Paediatric Surgery) qualification. |

Mr. Nadesh has achieved an advanced Degree in
Paediatric Surgery from the United Kingdom. He is
also formally trained in advanced Laparoscopic
Surgery , acquiring this experience after spending a
year at The Women’s and Children’s Hospital in
Adelaide, South Australia. |

Apart from performing the entire range of paediatric
surgical procedures, he also performs advanced
laparoscopic gastrointestinal & colorectal
procedures, laparoscopic biopsies of tumours and
laparoscopic appendicectomies. He is expert in
dealing with intra-abdominal testis laparoscopically.
He also has vast experience in dealing with
infective conditions of the chest cavity (empyemas)
thoracoscopically. |

His expertise also extends to paediatric urology for
which he has been formally trained overseas and
deals extensively with the entire spectrum of this
field, e.g. reconstructive procedures for
vesico-ureteric reflux, pelvi-ureteric junction
obstruction and hypospadias surgery with good
results. His skill in endoscopic surgery of the
urinary tract is commendable. |

A qualified General Surgeon with a FRCS (Edinburgh)
he served as a Clinical Specialist in Alor Setar in
1996 before embarking on a career as a Paediatric
Surgeon. He has a lot of surgical experience under
his belt. He is now however a full-time dedicated
Paediatric Surgeon and Paediatric Urologist. |

He has published eight papers, six of which are in
indexed international medical journals, and has two
book chapters on Paediatric Surgery to his credit.
He has over a 100 presentations in conferences, both
locally and overseas. He spent four years in the
University Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, as
an Associate Professor and served six months in the
Penang Medical College in 2006, during which period
he provided paediatric surgical services in the
Penang Hospital before he took up full-time
appointment in Gleneagles Medical Centre. |

He has a passion for yoga and meditation. He is a
voracious reader and likes music and painting. He
also loves the outdoors and plays cricket at club
level. Besides that, he loves hill climbing and
trekking. |
