Dr. Lynne Yong joined Gleneagles Medical Centre, Penang, as a Clinical Psychologist in January, 2005. Dr. Yong graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts, USA and did her honours project on variables associated with alcohol consumption in college. She then worked at McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Boston for 3 years, coordinating a longitudinal research project in personality disorder and several clinical trials on various psychotropic medications with an interdisciplinary team. Dr. Lynne went for her Masters and subsequently Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Rhode Island, U.S.A. She completed her clinical internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A.
 

Dr. Yong has worked with a variety of mental health issues such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, dissociative disorders, somatoform disorders, adjustment disorders and some personality disorders. Having worked in a medical facility, she is also interested in behavioural medicine and hopes to gain more experience in the field of behavioural interventions for chronic medical problems. She enjoys doing consultation liaison work. Apart from that, she would like to be more active in international relief work and has been active in trauma counselling and training for government medical personnel.

 

Dr. Yong conducts cognitive assessments (IQ) of children and adults. She also conducts neuropsychological testing to ascertain functioning and facilitate cognitive rehabilitation. She has done assessments on dementia, AIDS-related cognitive impairments, candidacy for surgical intervention in intractable epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, learning disabilities, and ADHD. Dr. Yong is currently in the process of acquiring testing materials to conduct cognitive and neuropsychological assessments.

 

Her hobbies include sculpting (minor in studio art in college), painting and movies.
