Gleneagles Medical Centre is a private hospital strategically located in the heart of Penang Island. It was established in the year 1973 by four pioneer consultants and a group of prominent businessmen. Known at the time as PMC, the hospital has since grown from having 70 beds to 230 beds. In 1989, the majority control of the company was taken over by Parkway Holdings Limited, a public company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, which also owns and operates a chain of private hospitals in Asia.
