Gleneagles
Purchases ULTRA Laboratory Information System (LIS)

Gleneagles Medical Centre (GMC) today signed an
agreement with HT Consulting Asia for the
delivery, installation and implementation
of a high-end Laboratory Information System
to further enhance its Laboratory services
to its patients/customers in Penang.

"GMC is the 1st in Penang and the northern
region of Malaysia to purchase the ULTRA LIS which
has already been successfully implemented at the
KL General Hospital and Specialty Medical Laboratories
in Malaysia", explained Mr Harres Tan the Group
CEO of HT Consulting Asia.
"ULTRA LIS is meant for high capacity workload and
is typically used at those sites which require such
performance of up to 50,000 tests per day. ULTRA
is currently implemented at more than 50 of the
largest laboratories in the world including:

GMC is spending a total of RM800,000 in this
new acquisition which covers the cost of the upgraded
hardware, networking equipment, database software
and the LIS application.
The LIS application will be implemented with the
popular Unify RDBMS on the upgraded HP9000 D270
which currently hosts the Hospital Information System
(HIS) running on the same database platform.
The agreement calls for HT Consulting to specially
provide a customised module to link the ULTRA LIS
to GMC's existing HIS in a seamless integration
allowing users of the system the ability to access
each other through on-line terminals.
Up to 3(three) of GMC's existing analyser instruments
will be connected to the ULTRA LIS for on-line real-time
input of the Lab Test results thereby speeding up
the process of results analysis and reporting.
Test results will also be available to all authorised
users via browsers and allowing internet access
from anywhere in the world. Patients historical
test results can be kept on-line for a pre-determined
period depending on the hospitals and laboratories
concerned.
"HT Consulting is selected by us as the vendor to
supply and implement the ULTRA LIS because of 2
reasons. Firstly, the ULTRA application itself is
a well-proven one. Secondly, we believed we will
be well supported locally in view of the fact that
HT Consulting has a well established office in Penang",
said Mr Ronald Koh, the General Manager of Gleneagles
Medical Centre.
ULTRA is a product developed by Triple-G Corporation
Australia in collaboration with HT Consulting Asia.
HT Consulting is the appointed exclusive distributor
of ULTRA in the ASEAN countries.
